In my last blog we talked about how we are in a spiritual battle and that we need to be dressed accordingly in order to withstand the devil’s schemes. Today I am going to show you HOW to do that by giving you some examples of what I pray daily. By following these examples you make yourself spiritually aware of all the enemy’s sneaky attempts to trip you up and cause you to fall. I encourage to you do as Paul said – put on the whole armor of God and stand against the attack.
Father, I put on the Belt of Truth. Your Word is truth. You said we will know the truth and therefore be made free; I am free – free from the traps the enemy would set for me. (Ephesians 6:14, John 8:32)
I put on the Breastplate of Righteousness knowing that I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. I guard my heart with Your breastplate because out of my heart flows the very issues of life. (Ephesians 6:14, II Corinthians 5:21, Proverbs 4:23)
I shod my feet with the Gospel of Peace. Peace is my foundation. I will bring peace wherever I go throughout the day. I am a peacemaker and a peace carrier. I thank You for the peace that passes all understanding. (Ephesians 6:15, Philippians 4:7)
I lift up the Shield of Faith which covers me from the top of my head to the soles of my feet. I thank You for the measure of faith that You gave me. I thank You that my faith is strong and growing through hearing Your Word. By that faith, every fiery dart is quenched. (Ephesians 6:16, Romans 10:17)
I take on the Helmet of Salvation. The blood of Jesus covers my thoughts. I declare my thoughts are God’s thoughts because I have the mind of Christ. (Ephesians 6:17, I Corinthians 2:16)
I wield the Sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word. Father, I take Your Word and speak it as Jesus did when He was tempted. Your Word will accomplish all you send it to do. I cut off the words of the enemy against me and proclaim the promises of God over me. I am the head and not the tail, I am above and not beneath, no weapon formed against me shall prosper, I am the healed of the Lord, and I will live long upon the earth and declare the works of the Lord. (Ephesians 6:17, Matthew 4, Isaiah 55:11, Deuteronomy 28:13, Isaiah 54:17, Psalm 118:17)
I pray in the Spirit, knowing that I am building up myself on my most holy faith. I will pray in the Spirit when my words are not enough. As I pray in this regard, I will find that I have strength for my day. (Ephesians 6:18, Jude 1:20)
