“Rising to Royalty” Part II

Rising-To-Royalty2

Ezekiel 16:6-7 reveals the next progression of “rising to royalty.”  The Word of God says, “I made you thrive like a plant in the field; and you grew, matured, and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed, your hair grew, but you were naked and bare” (Ezekiel 16:7 NKJV).

Because of hurts and pains from the past, our carnality strives to put defense mechanisms in place to protect us from ever being hurt again. Oh yes, you may have a successful career; you may have a wonderful husband and beautiful children; you may have large amounts of money saved up in the bank – but are you still “naked and bare”?

Maybe you have developed an unhealthy dependency on others to affirm your worth. Perhaps you have developed an attitude of “I can handle life on my own; I don’t need anyone!” Maybe you have created an “invisible wall” that prevents you from emotionally connecting with others; or perhaps you have relied on your physical looks to gain approval from others.

Defense mechanisms can come in many forms, but they all have one thing in common: they are a way of survival that creates a false sense of security and self-worth while leaving Jesus out of the equation.  Consider the defense mechanism you have relied on in the past. Confess this to God, and make a commitment to let it go today! Once you have acknowledged to God that your man-made methods of feeling “okay” don’t work, you are then ready to move to the next level of “rising to royalty”!

Ezekiel 16:8 (NKJV) speaks of how God pursues us to come into a deep, intimate relationship with Him. He says, “…Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine.” The Lord longs to be your husband. Hosea 2:16 (NKJV) says, “‘And it shall be, in that day,’ says the Lord, ‘that you will call Me my Husband, and no longer call Me my Master.’”

Whether you are married, single, divorced, or widowed, Jesus is passionate for you! When you need someone to talk to, turn to Jesus. When you need someone to understand you at your deepest levels, share your feelings with God. When you long to be adored, know that He has already gone to the ends of the earth – and beyond – to demonstrate His love for you. Jesus is waiting for you to give Him the opportunity to pursue you in love, just as the Song of Solomon describes.

If you have been running from a deep level of intimacy with God, make up your mind today that you will run no more. Allow Him to overtake you, and you will then be ready to rise to the final level, which leads you to royalty. Ezekiel 16:9-14 prophesies your destiny in Christ. The Lord says to you, “You were exceedingly beautiful, and succeeded to royalty” (Ezekiel 16:13b NKJV). Once you reach this place in God, you no longer serve Him out of obligation, but instead, have allowed Him to become much more in your life.  You realize that the “King of Kings” and the “Lord of Lords” is your Husband, and that makes you royalty!

Allow God to work the process in your heart, mind, and spirit. Allow Him to overwhelm you in His love. Give in to Him; and before you know it, you will feel Him clothing you with fine linen, adorning you with ornaments, and placing a beautiful crown on your head. You will know with all that is within you that you have indeed “risen to royalty.”
