Nurturing a Strong Relationship with Your Husband – Part 2

Nurturing-Full-Spread-2

Last week we embarked on a study of the Proverbs 31 woman. This week we will continue to see how we can implement her strategies, as we strive to be a godly wife that nurtures a strong relationship with her husband.

She knows that her words have great power in his life

A strong woman knows when her husband is downcast in his soul and needs uplifting. She also knows that her words of encouragement are life-giving and can turn the tide on the events in his life. If your husband is like mine, he won’t show his fear or give you reason to believe that he is downcast. You will have to sharpen your discernment to know when you need to speak life and peace into a circumstance that is causing him to become battle-weary. I have learned to inquire of the Lord about who my husband is and what he is called to do. Then, when he becomes battle-weary, I am able to point out the tactic the enemy is using to bring or pull him down and, instead, remind him of what God has said about his future. “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver” (Proverbs 25:11 KJV).

She knows how to keep an orderly home

A strong woman knows that a clean and orderly home is a place that her husband can retreat to at the end of his long work day. Proverbs 31:27 says: “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness” (KJV). This is a tough battle for women who work outside of the home, as I do. Having gone through recent health challenges, fatigue is a constant battle for me, and I have to regularly monitor my energy level in order to finish my day strong. I have learned to get rid of clutter so as to minimize my energy output when cleaning my home.

She knows how to administrate the finances

A strong woman also knows how to administrate the finances and make each dollar work hard for the family. She understands finance and knows that money is her servant – not vise-versa. She is conscientious when purchasing for her household and does not spend her valuable resources on unnecessary items. I have learned to research my best product options on the internet before venturing out to the stores so that I can maximize both my time and money.

Join us next week for the conclusion of this three-part study on Nurturing a Strong Relationship with your Husband.
