The Ultimate Car Wash

Ultimate-Car-Wash

One day, this past winter, I was getting into my car to go to work. It had been snowing and melting, and snowing again. I thought to myself, “Yuck, when will this car ever get cleaned?” The Lord began to speak to me, and He said, “This car is like many of My children.” We feel that tug on our hearts to come to the Lord, or come back to the Lord, because we know we need Him; however, we think we need to be all cleaned up first. The trouble is we can never find the right time to go to the “Car Wash.”

The enemy loves to rain on our parade. It seems as though we weather one storm and just when we think we are in a clearing, the clouds start rolling back in. It may not be a scary, thunderous type of storm. It might be a short-lived drizzle, that’s just enough to keep us thinking, “No, not today.” Let me ask the question: What good would a car wash be if we always had a spotless, shiny car?

My friends, God is the ultimate “Car Wash.” He specializes in making us clean! He is the Master Detailer! We don’t have to decide which option to choose from on the menu. Standard clean? Super clean? Ultimate clean? He knows exactly what we need, whether it’s spiritual, emotional, or relational. No matter what it is, it is on God’s “menu.” We don’t have to go far, either! Our “Car Wash” is always near, and always open; in our living room, in our prayer closet, or maybe right inside our car. All we have to do is go to Him and believe.

Matthew 9:20-22 provides a beautiful example for us: “And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, ‘If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.’ But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, ‘Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well.’ And the woman was made well from that hour” (NKJV).

Jesus knew of the woman’s need, and the woman knew and believed in the healing power of Jesus Christ. He made Himself available, she went to Him, and was cleansed. I know that this woman was changed from that very moment. Not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally, too. Can you imagine the freedom she felt?

God really has made it easy for us, because He loves us so much! He doesn’t want us trudging around in the dirt, grime, and mire of this world. Those things just weigh us down and cause us not to run at our optimal level. He wants us to be clean and free in Him. Knowing that we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us (see Philippians 4:13)! For it is through Him that we are made whole and new. He will restore our sparkle and shine! So, if it looks like the clouds are rolling in and a storm is brewing, don’t wait, run to the “Car Wash!”
