It’s Not Junk Mail

I love how the Lord communicates with His people! He uses a variety of ways to speak to us, including dreams! “For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds” (Job 33:14-15 NIV). God speaks in dreams, but we may not perceive it. So many woman treat dreams like junk mail and immediately dismiss them as unimportant, when in fact, God is trying to send them messages.

He gifts us with dreams to order our steps, to protect us, to correct us, or even to guide us in a direction to take. The Lord God will guide you through dreams. He did it for Joseph multiple times (see Matthew chapters 1 and 2) and for Pilate’s wife (see Matthew 27:19).

Several years ago, my husband shared with me that he felt the Lord was calling us to start a church in Kentucky. I couldn’t imagine leaving my home in Colorado. It made absolutely no sense to me! He was happy working in ministry at Word of Life Christian Center and our family loved it there; it was home. Our sons were in high school, we owned a home and several rental properties, and my father had dementia. Moving was the last thing I wanted or needed.

Then, one night I had a dream. God showed me it would be my last Christmas in Colorado. In the dream, I saw several men, women, and children waiting at an altar with no minister. They were hungry and crying. I knew God was telling us to go, so we obeyed and started a church plant in Lexington, Kentucky.

Did you know that God will give you dreams simply to encourage you? I am not one who loves to get up and speak in front of a crowd. In fact, I always used to second-guess myself afterwards. I started to feel inadequate after my husband was called into full-time ministry, until one night God showed up in my sleep. He showed me that He had called me and equipped me to minister to women, one at a time, then in gatherings. As I did this, He would provide for them everything they needed to be set free. But in my dream I saw thousands of women. I asked, “Lord, how? How can this be? How can I minister to only one at a time? There are far too many!” He showed me as one woman was set free, she would carry His love to other women; it was a chain reaction. He was raising up an army. To this day that’s exactly how He uses me, and because of my dream, I walk in assurance of my calling!

Don’t ignore your dreams, woman of God! He works by means of faith and if you have faith that God has given you a dream, He will surely do it. I believe many Christian women don’t have many dreams from God because they don’t have faith in the dreams they already have. Exercise your faith for dreams. Ask Him for dreams. You have not because you ask not (see James 4:2). God is calling women of all ages, races, and backgrounds to lead in extraordinary ways! He is calling us to become His instruments, His teachers, and evangelists in the workplace, in our community, and throughout the world. As women, we have been called to lead and to make a difference in this dark world!

It’s time for you to fulfill the dream that God has placed in your heart, wherever you are or wherever He asks you to go. If you have dreams of doing something great or significant, it is my prayer that you will take action and move toward your destiny. I pray you will discern God’s heart for you and will take hold of the necessary resources God has provided to make your dreams come to fruition.

Regardless of your age or your season in life, it is never too late to live your dreams. I know you have a few. Every day is a new opportunity for your dream to come true if you place your faith, trust, and hope in your heavenly Father. God is sending you a message and it’s not junk mail! Live out your dreams and become all God created you to be! Like Walt Disney once said, “If you can dream it, you can do it!” With God, all things are possible!

Haha. No kidding! Jody, thanks for the rebuke. I have treated dreams like junk mail, and I have forgotten or ignored dreams that did not come to pass quickly. Love ya
